Originally from Ames, Iowa Sandra Daulton Shaughnessy received a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Northern Iowa with special studies in museology at the University of New Mexico and an MFA in Ceramics from Eastern Michigan University where she studied with artist, Suzanne Stephenson.

Throughout her life Sandra developed her interests in museum management and teaching. She was the Docent Coordinator at UNI Gallery of Art and assisted visiting artist/curator Allen Kaprow and Garth Clark. She was the Department Supervisor at the Walker Art Center, MN where she traveled with exhibitions as the museum liaison in charge of framing. This led her to form a company to restore sculptures for the Dayton’s Collection, Mark Di Suverio Sculpture and the General Mills & Honeywell Sculpture Collection.

Sandra has exhibited nationally at Pewabic Pottery Michigan, NCECA Portland, U of MI, Iowa State Univ. and is in the collection of UNI Gallery of Art, Iowa State University and U of MN along with many other public & private collections.

Currently, Sandra’s claywork is represented at the Northern Clay Center- MN, The Grand Hand Gallery(W2)-MN, Everett & Charlie Gallery-MN, Bell Street Gallery-Madeline Island-WI and the Clayhouse Gallery & Studio in Ottertail, MN where she can be found fishing, waterskiing and creating work to fire in her soda kiln!
